Project Green The Ghetto
This program focuses on educating our
youth on the imporance of environmental awareness and natures's
reciprocity by planting, mantining and havesting food. Youth
will have the oppurtunity to help their community gain
access to fresh food inspiring them to invest in the health of themselves, their families and the earth. Green the Ghetto wll also plant 100 fruit trees donated by
Tree Folks. We will take groups of three to five youth
each and plant fruit trees throughout Austin starting
on in East Austins, parks, schools, and neighborhoods.Pal's
after school community gardens will take place in the Orun Center's back yard. Youth will deliver fresh food
harvested from the garden to elders in their commnity
teaching them the values of community service.
